UPRADAS supported the international Breast Weekend 3.0 conference in Uzhhorod

On April 18, Uzhhorod hosted the international medical conference Breast Weekend 3.0, dedicated to modern approaches in breast surgery, including aesthetic, reconstructive, and oncological fields. The event was held with the support of the Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Dermatologic Aesthetic Surgery and Oncoplastic Mammology (UPRADAS).

The conference brought together Ukrainian specialists as well as international speakers from the Czech Republic, Germany, and Moldova, who joined the event to exchange clinical experience and discuss current approaches in breast surgery.

Interdisciplinary collaboration as a key focus

One of the core priorities supported by UPRADAS is the integration of oncologic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery into a unified professional dialogue.

“We all work with the same organ — the breast. Only close collaboration between oncologic and plastic surgeons allows us to achieve better outcomes for patients,” – said Serhii Derbak, founder of the conference.

During the conference, participants presented real clinical cases, including joint reconstructive procedures following oncological treatment, demonstrating the practical value of such collaboration.

Education and support for young specialists

Supporting educational initiatives is a key part of UPRADAS’ strategic focus.

The conference brought together both experienced surgeons and young specialists, offering opportunities for practical learning, case-based discussions, and direct interaction with experts.

“The conference was initially designed as an educational platform for young surgeons, and this remains one of its key priorities. Today we see a strong demand from young professionals for continuous learning and development,” – added Derbak.

International cooperation

The involvement of international speakers remains an important direction for UPRADAS.

According to the organizers, collaboration with European experts is built through professional connections established at international congresses and joint educational initiatives.

This year, speakers from the Czech Republic, Germany, and Moldova participated in the conference, marking an important step in strengthening international cooperation even under challenging conditions.

Implementation of modern approaches

Special attention was given to current trends in breast surgery.

Plastic surgeon Oleksandr Karpinskyi presented the “tissue preservation” concept — an approach focused on minimizing surgical trauma, preserving anatomical structures, and enabling faster recovery for patients.

This concept is already being applied in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery and is expected to shape the future of the field in the coming years.

The role of UPRADAS

UPRADAS supports such events as part of its broader mission to develop a professional community, promote medical education, and foster an open environment for professional dialogue.

The Association actively works with young specialists, supports educational initiatives, and contributes to improving the quality of medical care in Ukraine.

Charity component

The conference also included a charitable component, with part of the funds directed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
